Edoardo Burzio

Edoardo Burzio received an M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering in 2015 from the Polytechnic University of Turin. He spent the following four years as a Research Fellow in the Department of Land, Environment and Infrastructure Engineering at the same university. He has a solid and diversified background in hydraulic engineering and water resource management, with core expertise in hydraulic modelling, optimization of water infrastructures, digitalization, and implementation of innovative and sustainable solutions for water supply and drainage networks. Since 2021, he has been working as a Researcher at the SMAT Research Center. His key competencies include the design and simulation of pressurized water networks and sewage using tools such as EPANET, InfoWorks WS Pro, and SWMM; experimental applications of hydrodynamic cavitation for potable water disinfection; development of enterprise data architectures for processing and analysis; and the implementation of nature-based solutions (NBS) for urban drainage optimization. He has experience in managing European-funded projects, technology scouting for water systems innovation, and programming in Python and SQL for automation and data analysis. He also serves as a tutor for industrial Ph.D. projects in the water sector. He is the author of scientific publications on innovative technologies for water treatment and integrated water service optimization.

Giasmin Cecconi

Giasmin Cecconi holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Turin, where she graduated in 2022. She has experience in European research projects focusing on sustainable agriculture, wastewater reuse, water management, treatment and monitoring. During her thesis and research fellowship at the University of Turin she contributed in European Projects focused on the investigation of the safe reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture and the role of biochar in enhancing soil quality.  Currently she is a researcher at SMAT Research Center, involved in projects focused on innovative solutions for water decontamination and monitoring. Her work includes the testing and validation of innovative technologies in pilot plants, contributing to the demonstration of real-scale solutions for wastewater decontamination and reporting results within European Consortia. In addition to research activities, she has contributed to the company’s carbon footprint assessment and she conducts specialised analyses for different water quality parameters. Since 2025, Giasmin has been a participant in the European Junior Water Programme by H2O-People focused on developing skills to manage emerging water and climate challenges.
